Software Engineering Internship – Automotive

Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Location: Banja Luka

HTEC’s automotive teams are looking for curious and motivated students who want to take their first steps into real-world automotive software development.
We welcome final-year bachelor’s or master’s students, as well as recent graduates, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

What You’ll Learn & Work On

As an intern, you won’t be expected to know everything upfront. You’ll learn by doing, with support from experienced engineers who will mentor you throughout the internship.

During the internship, you will:

  • Learn how automotive software projects are developed end to end
  • Write and improve code in C/C++ and Python, with a focus on readable, maintainable, and high-quality code
  • Get introduced to verification and testing, and learn why testing is critical in automotive software
  • Learn how to validate your code through basic tests, reviews, and debugging
  • Get introduced to build systems and understand how software is built, tested, and integrated
  • Gain hands-on experience with operating systems used in embedded and automotive environments
  • Learn how to debug issues, analyse problems, and find solutions step by step
  • Work closely with your mentor and team members, asking questions and getting feedback

This internship is a great match if you want to turn your university knowledge into practical engineering skills and understand how reliable, high-quality software is built for real products.

What We’re Looking For

We don’t expect expert-level knowledge. What matters most is your interest and willingness to learn.

  • Basic knowledge of C and/or C++
  • Basic knowledge of Python
  • Fundamental understanding of operating system concepts (university level is enough)
  • Interest in writing correct, well-structured, and tested code
  • Willingness to learn about testing, verification, and debugging
  • A proactive mindset and readiness to ask questions

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Any experience with testing (unit tests, university projects, or similar)
  • Any experience with build systems (e.g. CMake, Make, bazel)
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Interest in embedded systems or automotive software
